Professional adapter solution for the Peak measuring microscope

When used with this microscope, LM adapter solutions for digital cameras, DSLRs, system cameras, C-mount cameras and camcorders deliver excellent image quality.

Thanks to its small size, the Peak Wide Stand Microscope is very well suited for mobile applications. As a result, this popular instrument is widely used in industrial applications (paper and pulp industry, automotive sector) as well as for research and educational purposes. It is only 123 mm high and has one eyepiece and one lens. The price tag is around EUR 350.

Peak Wide Stand Microscope

The microscope has a clear acrylic base that is placed directly over the specimen. After twisting the focusing ring until the image appears sharp, the object can then be measured by means of a scale. The eyepiece has 10x magnification and is diopter adjustable to accommodate individual differences in the user’s eyesight.

The following objective lenses are available for the Peak microscope: 2x, 4x, 6x, 10x, 15x, 20x and 30x. Changing lenses is very easy: unscrew the existing lens and screw in another one. A number of accessories, such as a stand, are available to make work more comfortable.

Our LM digital adapters with plan achromatic precision optics allow you to attach a wide range of digital cameras, DSLRs, system cameras, C-mount cameras and camcorders to the microscope quickly and easily. All you need to do is remove the eyepiece and plug the camera adapter unit into the eyepiece tube, and you’re all set to take pictures through the microscope.

Cameras with high-quality sensors deliver the best results. Lightweight DSLRs and system cameras are a particularly recommendable choice for photomicrography. Currently, Canon’s EOS series cameras have the best price/performance ratio. They produce excellent image quality and can also be controlled remotely from a PC/tablet/Mac with the Canon Utility software, which comes included with the camera. For more information about this software, please click here.

Our camera guide and our camera ranking are great tools to help you select the optimal camera for your specific needs.

We can also provide intermediate optical elements for industrial C-mount cameras and special-purpose microscope cameras. Here, it is particularly important to know the sensor size (crop factor 1x or 0.5x, etc.) of the camera.#

We have analysed the pros and cons of DSLR and special-purpose microscope cameras and compiled a report of our findings on our website.

Peak microscopes are high-quality instruments that provide solid image quality, as is evident from the reference image below:

Our adapter solutions are designed for universal use and therefore don’t have any scales or measuring grids imposed on them. For this reason, we recommend using a computer measurement program for measuring tasks and digital photographic documentation.

Fitting the microscope to digital single-lens reflex (DSLR), mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras (MILC ), digital single-lens mirrorless (DSLM) or C-mount cameras is easy with our LM digital SLR adapters, which feature a plan achromatic optical system. Our products make it possible to capture top-quality microscope images. To help you select the adapter that is right for your camera, we have set up an online configurator on our website. You can also email us – ideally with attached photographs of your microscope.

Modern DSLR and single-lens mirrorless (DSLM) offer the latest technology and are generally very well suited for microscopy applications. Most of them can be controlled remotely via PC/Mac. Because of their high sales volumes, they offer an excellent price/performance ratio compared to special-purpose microscope cameras.

Features of top DSLR and single-lens mirrorless cameras (DSLM):
- Large, powerful full-frame sensors (36 x 24 mm)
- Sensor resolution of 61 megapixels or 240 megapixels with Pixel Shift technology
- High light sensitivity (ISO 400,000+)
- Extensive dynamic range (up to 15 aperture stops/f-stops)
- Short exposure times (1/8000 second) up to 1/32,000 seconds using the digital shutter
- 4K Ultra HD  or 8K Ultra HD video function
- Live video capture on external monitors in ultra HD quality

In most cases, these cameras are significantly more powerful than microscope cameras with smaller sensors (1/2" or 2/3"). On our website you will find our current camera recommendations and a camera ranking which is specifically tailored to microscopy applications.
