FAQ: Which adapter solution would you recommend for me? Fitting the camera to my microscope’s eyepiece tube or its phototube?
If your microscope has a phototube, we recommend that you use an adapter to fit your camera to it.
A phototube solution has the following advantages:

Both eyepieces remain available for visual observation

There is a fixed mechanical connection between the phototube (C-mount) and the camera. The LM digital adapter with C-mount connection is firmly screwed to the phototube’s C-mount thread. Due to this optimum mechanical coupling, vibrations are reduced.

Through its vertical alignment, the phototube is better suited to carrying heavy photographic systems.
For professional use, we categorically recommend that you use the phototube.
