Use of the Olympus E-330 digital SLR camera in microscopy
The first digital reflex camera with live preview on build-in LCD screen world-wide

Control of image quality and focus level prior to capturing the image is of special importance in microscopy. The disadvantage of digital reflex cameras compared to digital compact cameras so far has been the fact that live preview was not possible. By introducing the Olympus E-330 a digital camera is now available which is perfectly suitable for microscopy and macroscopy. On the built-in LCD screen preview images can be easily viewed. If the camera's 2.5" screen is too small for your purposes you can connect your camera to a larger control monitor by using the video cable included in the delivery.

In the P programme mode the camera works with automatic exposure. We have experienced that the best results are obtained by switching on the automatic timer A and adjusting the filter correction factor at +3 for bright field images. With the remote-control release or automatic release capturing can be delayed for 2 or 10 seconds, respectively.

To connect a camera of the Olympus E series to a FourThirds system you need a LM DSLR ADAPTER with an original OM T2 connector. In addition, you will need the original “MF1” OM/E adapter with the item number N21503000. Turn to your local photo shop for these items.

The easiest way to control the focus level is connecting the Olympus E-330 to an external control monitor.
