Turn your digital reflex camera into a microscope

Digital SLR cameras can be converted into a microscope simply by screwing the LM DSLR macro lens onto the existing lens. The 40 mm LM DSLR macro lense has a focal length of 40 mm, and the 80 mm LM DSLR macro lens has a focal length of 80 mm. Depending on the size of the camera sensor and the focal length of the lens, it is possible to achieve a magnification ratio of up to 3:1, which means that the image is three times as large as the captured object.
All that is required is a lens with a maximum focal length of 90 mm for the 40 mm LM DSLR macro lens, or with a maximum focal length of 140 mm for the 80 mm LM DSLR macro lens. The maximum focal length should not be exceeded. Due to the high magnification ratio, it is recommended to use a repro stand with a focusing rack. For high-resolution laboratory or studio work, the special macro stand we offer is an optimal solution. Taking hands-free images with the 40 mm LM DSLR macro lens without using a stand is only possible in exceptional cases. The 80 mm LM DSLR macro lens enables feasible hands-free image capture up to a magnification ratio of 1.5 : 1 and at very good lighting conditions.
All of the camera’s functions such as exposure, zoom and automatic aperture control remain unchanged and can still be used. The LM DSLR macro lens is a high-performance ancillary lens consisting of hard-coated lenses. This plan achromatic lens design, which is sophisticated for ancillary lenses, produces macro images with excellent detail focus. This extremely high quality of image definition makes it possible to work with both large microscopic specimens and macroscopic objects.
Our macro lenses are not mass produced goods from the Far East, but hand-finished in Austria using the most up-to-date production methods. As we place a great deal of value on high quality standards and durability, we do not use cheap plastic materials, but instead exclusively use CNC machined aircraft-grade aluminium or brass parts and optical components of the highest quality.
