The Euromex iScope – a lower-cost alternative to conventional brand-name microscopes

With our LM microscope adapters, DSLRs and system cameras can be connected to the Euromex iScope microscope in a few simple, easy steps.

The iScope is manufactured by the Dutch company Euromex. It has a modern infinity-corrected optical system and is a great device for a variety of laboratory, research and educational applications. In addition, it can easily be configured to accommodate phase contrast, dark field, standard polarisation and epi-fluorescence imaging techniques.

cheap microscope trinocular

The iScope is available in a binocular or trinocular version; the trinocular head has a photo tube with a standard internal diameter of 23.2 mm.

This is the ideal setup for attaching our LM digital and wide field adapters to the iScope in just a few quick and simple steps. If no photo port is available, connection via the eyepiece tube is also possible.

Depending on the model, the eyepiece tube has a diameter of either 23.2 mm or 30 mm.

It is also a plus that the photo tube has a knurled screw, which enables an optical alignment of the image viewed through the eyepiece with that of the camera image. The user just needs to raise or lower the tube with the adapter and photographic equipment attached to it (while checking the focus of the camera image at the same time) to find the optimal position and then secure it with the knurled screw.

The microscope has a five-position nosepiece and is equipped with an innovative NeoLED illumination system (a combination of an LED light source and a specially designed thin lens with short focal length). The energy-saving iCare sensor automatically switches off the illumination of the microscope after a certain amount of time. Extensive multi-head and face-to-face configurations are also available for group sessions. The user can choose between wide-field WF 10x/22 or standard 10x/20 eyepieces.

Conclusion: Thanks to its standard 23.2 mm photo tube, the Euromex iScope, combined with a good-quality DSLR camera, delivers beautiful microscopic images. The trinocular version is priced at around € 1,000. For a microscope in that price range, the image quality is really quite good. For more sophisticated requirements, however, especially for digital photography with high-quality camera systems, we recommend brand-name microscopes such as Zeiss, Nikon, Leica or Olympus (price range € 5,000 and up). Fitting the microscope to digital single-lens reflex (DSLR), mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras (MILC ), digital single-lens mirrorless (DSLM) or C-mount cameras is easy with our LM digital SLR adapters, which feature a plan achromatic optical system. Our products make it possible to capture top-quality microscope images. To help you select the adapter that is right for your camera, we have set up an online configurator on our website. You can also email us – ideally with attached photographs of your microscope.

Modern DSLR and single-lens mirrorless (DSLM) offer the latest technology and are generally very well suited for microscopy applications. Most of them can be controlled remotely via PC/Mac. Because of their high sales volumes, they offer an excellent price/performance ratio compared to special-purpose microscope cameras.

Features of top DSLR and single-lens mirrorless cameras (DSLM):
- Large, powerful full-frame sensors (36 x 24 mm)
- Sensor resolution of 61 megapixels or 240 megapixels with Pixel Shift technology
- High light sensitivity (ISO 400,000+)
- Extensive dynamic range (up to 15 aperture stops/f-stops)
- Short exposure times (1/8000 second) up to 1/32,000 seconds using the digital shutter
- 4K Ultra HD  or 8K Ultra HD video function
- Live video capture on external monitors in ultra HD quality

In most cases, these cameras are significantly more powerful than microscope cameras with smaller sensors (1/2" or 2/3"). On our website you will find our current camera recommendations and a camera ranking which is specifically tailored to microscopy applications.
